Opening a Case Study in Ethical Fashion Development

House Of Vincenza is opening a limited case study for designers who want to build ethical and sustainable fashion in a way that can be tested, documented and proven.

This is not a conceptual discussion about sustainability.

This is a working development environment.

The intention is simple: to explore what happens when designers commit to organic materials, transparent sourcing and slow fashion construction — and pair that with a real-world proof of concept campaign before entering production.

Instead of producing inventory based on assumptions, this model focuses on validating demand first, allowing designers to make informed production decisions rather than carrying unnecessary risk.

Who This Case Study Is For

This case study is designed for designers who are ready to move beyond surface-level sustainability and build with transparency and intention from the ground up.

This includes designers who want to:

  • Work with organic and biodegradable materials

  • Commit to slow fashion construction and long-term garment durability

  • Design pieces intended to last, resell and become future vintage

  • Step away from foreign mass production models

  • Reduce overproduction and develop through made-to-order proof of concept

  • Build with transparency across materials, construction and cost

Participants must also be open to having their development process included in a documented case study.

This is a collaborative environment where the work itself contributes to a larger body of applied research.

What Designers Receive in Return

In exchange for participating in this case study, designers receive full Design House development support through House Of Vincenza.

This includes:

Pattern Access and Ownership

Designers receive access to their sewing patterns as part of the development process. Patterns are not held as proprietary assets that restrict future production, allowing for long-term independence and control.

Transparent Sourcing

Guidance in sourcing organic fabrics, trims and materials with full visibility into what is being used and why.

Design Development and Sample Creation

Structured development of designs into real, testable garments through pattern making and sampling.

Production Math and Cost Clarity

Clear, documented breakdowns of labor, materials and construction so designers understand the actual cost of what they are creating.Worksheets are included to calculate MSRP based on real numbers, not assumptions — giving designers the ability to price with accuracy and confidence.

Crowdfunding Integration

Development pathways that include crowdfunding as a proof-of-concept tool, allowing designers to test demand before scaling production.

Made-to-Order Production Model

A controlled production approach that reduces waste and overproduction by producing garments based on actual demand.

Case Study Inclusion

Each participating designer becomes part of a documented case study examining this approach to ethical fashion development, including both successes and challenges.

Why This Structure Matters

There is a gap between designing a garment and bringing it into the world in a way that is both viable and responsible.

Many designers are left to navigate that gap alone, or are pushed toward production pathways that prioritize speed and volume over alignment and long-term value.

This case study is designed to close that gap.

By combining design development, transparent sourcing and demand-based production, it creates a structure where designers can build with clarity, ownership and intention — before scaling.

A Working Model, Not a Theory

This is not a course or a passive learning experience.

It is a working model being developed in real time through actual garments, materials and production decisions.

The goal is not only to support individual designers, but to document a repeatable approach to ethical fashion development that can inform future systems.

Application and Selection

This is a limited and curated intake.

Designers will be selected based on alignment with the principles of the case study and readiness to engage in a structured development process.
